Australia won. No, India lost!

For the common Indian fan, it isn’t a defeat. This is equivalent somebody snatching their spouse away. We criticize, crib and troll our team, sometimes so obnoxiously that it defies the laws of logic of even the animal world!

I am hopeful of a time when we will be a sporting nation, literally in every sense of that word. A nation that would accept defeat gracefully by patting our players on the back for a job well-done, and giving credit to the opposition for being the better team on the day. Till then, we’ll keep getting reactions like the ones listed below. Note: I am not counting myself out of this ‘crime’ either!

Honestly, I hate your guts! I always have! You have no fear. None. Maybe that is why you’re a super-hero!

I hate it that you play for South Africa (and not for India), and for that team down south in the IPL. And yet, you’re equally liked by all. Maybe that is why you’re a super-hero.

I hate it that you can do almost everything that this sport throws at you and be the best in all of them, (and I cannot even dream of them)! You can do it all! Maybe that is why you are a super-hero! Maybe you should try flying.

It has been ages since I blogged for Malluisms, primarily because of my own laziness, and also partly (and this is a good enough excuse) because I have been trying to launch a ‘universal-unified’ site for a year or more.
